LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - The Gwinnett Braves are holding a drive to collect new or used baseball gloves at Coolray Field from Monday, February 11 through Friday, February 22. All donated items will benefit the Gloves 4 Troops program in its mission to send 1,000 baseball gloves to United States troops stationed around the world before the start of Spring Training.
Founded by St. Louis Cardinals' minor league infielder Vance Albitz, Gloves 4 Troops has already donated over 700 gloves through donations made via his website, gloves4troops.com. The G-Braves aim to help Albitz raise the number to well over his 1,000 goal with the 12-day drive at Coolray Field. Small donations will be accepted at the Coolray Field Box Office, while larger donations can be set up by calling Shari Massengill at 678-277-0311.
In addition to gloves, baseballs and monetary donations will also be accepted. Each box of four gloves and four baseballs costs Albitz approximately $20 to ship to locations like Afghanistan. For more information on how you can get involved with Gloves 4 Troops, visit gloves4troops.com or email Albitz at vance@gloves4troops.com.
The Gwinnett Braves open their fifth season of play on Thursday, April 4, 2013 as they host the Charlotte Knights for a 7:05 PM contest at Coolray Field. For more information on G-Braves Season Tickets, Luxury Suites, Group Outings and more, contact the Coolray Field Box Office at 678-277-0340.
